Winter Solstice

On the Winter Solstice I was gifted with three magical owl sightings. On 21st June as we drove towards the beach in the early evening there was a barn owl hovering close to the ground not far from the road.  Image

Later that evening a bird looking like a large gull flew across the windscreen. It settled on a fence beside the road and looked at us with its wise owl eyes.

for several moments.       Image       (photos not mine)            Then it flew back across the road and perched on the branch of a tree. We reversed the car for another look.

Yesterday we drove, as we often do, 60ks to Ralph Illidge Sanctuary to work as part of the Friends Group. I had one or two hours to myself in the beautiful sun drenched forest, a perfect place for Solstice meditation.
